This was my second book, the one that began my career-long commitment to pregnant women and their unborn babies. It was also a successful book, remaining in print for nearly a decade. The intended audience was health professionals working in the fields of obstetrics and pediatrics. As a thorough review of the current literature, it included such topics as maternal-infant weight relationships, iron-deficiency anemia, pica, lactose intolerance, smoking in pregnancy, diabetes, fetal alcohol syndrome, adolescent pregnancy, lactation, and the nutritional influence on brain development and subsequent behavior. It was also published in Spanish.
